In this video, weโre going to talk about early time-restricted eating. In my first book, I recommended that everyone should eat breakfast. In my second book, I removed that recommendation. After reviewing the research, I tried early time-restricted eating and Iโm very impressed with the benefits.
Early eating aligns with your circadian rhythm, so it can be beneficial to avoid eating after 3:00p.m.
Here are 7 benefits of early time-restricted eating:
1. Better HOMA-IR (insulin sensitivity)
2. Better blood sugars
3. Better B-cell response
4. Lower appetite in the evening
5. Better insulin levels after eating
6. Autophagy
7. Food genes downgraded in the evening
Biochemical pathways that are associated with eating and food are normally downgraded in the evening. Eating reactivates those food genes, which is why I’m experimenting with my eating pattern. Iโm still fasting for 20 hours each day, I’ve just shifted my eating pattern from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m!
Cortisol spikes in the morning, causing you to become hungry. You donโt have a cortisol spike in the evening, so youโll spend the rest of the day satisfied and simply not hungry. This leads to better digestion, better blood sugar, and better sleep.

For 60 years, Pop-Tarts has endured wars, natural disasters, health-conscious movements and recessions. Kellogg’s โ which split into Kellanova, for snacks, and W.K. Kelloggโs, for its cereal business, in October โ saw Pop-Tarts bring in billion in sales in 2022. Kellanova’s top five snacking brands, Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Eggo and Rice Krispies Treats, account for 50% of the company’s net sales. While competitors such as Quaker, Nabisco and General Mills have attempted to contend with the beloved toaster pastry, none of those efforts has lasted. On Dec. 28, 2023, for the first time, college football teams will compete in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where the winning team will receive a giant, edible Pop-Tarts mascot.

Today, weโre going to talk about the effect of sugar on the brain.
Sugar causes a temporary spike in dopamine, which affects your mood and behaviorโmaking you feel happy. However, the receptors for dopamine can eventually start downgrading. This means that it will take more and more sugar to create the same effect.
Concentration and focus require a good amount of cognitive power. Sugar alters the inhibitory parts of the brainโcausing you to have less control over your brain and making it difficult to concentrate. Sugar also atrophies and ages the brain over time and reduces blood flow to the brain.
Medications like Ritalin are sometimes used to treat conditions like ADHD, where people may have a problem with focus and concentration. However, medications come with side effects.
The Sugar Association says that sugar is fine in moderation. They also say that carbs are the #1 source of energy in the body. But, we know that you can also run your body on ketones.
Another thing they say is that your brain needs sugar. While certain parts of your brain do need sugar, this can come from the sugar your body makes naturallyโyou donโt need to consume sugar.
What you can do to support focus and concentration:
1. Stop consuming sugar and try alternative sugars
2. Take natural vitamin B1 or nutritional yeast
3. Start fasting (18 hours a day with a six-hour eating window)
